Ethan C. Vodrey

About Me

Ethan C. Vodrey is a Cleveland-based artist and craftsman who works primarily in metal to create functional utilitarian and decorative objects. He received his BFA in Jewelry and Metals from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Recognizing the threat of climate change and the need to act as a responsible steward, Vodrey works hard to identify and minimize the ecological cost of his objects. His inspirations include space exploration, the natural world, and personal experiences. Vodrey is interested in how objects can positively impact our lives. His current work explores the often overlooked material of pewter and its potential when worked using modern and novel tools and techniques. Recent exhibitions of his work include: CIA Alumni Exhibition, Come, Rest Here by My Side (2023), Student Independent Exhibition 76 (2022), 第49回伝統工芸日本金工展 (49th Traditional Crafts: Japanese Metalworking Exhibition) (2021)
