Nickel Silver, Brass, Steel, and Dyed 3D Printed Nylon

This wind-up toy is inspired by the toys of my youth and the valuable moments and joy-filled memories they created. Through this piece I want to create those valuable moments for others. The toy utilizes a two gear mechanism of my own design to propel the mouse forward when the spiral spring is wound. I designed the wheels and gears to look like cheese and used a 3D printing service to print them in nylon, which I dyed yellow to increase their resemblance to cheese. The pivots are made of brass and the outside plates were hand sawn from nickel silver and then refined with files.
